Currently, I am conducting organic aerosol experiments. Organic aerosols are being produced in the atmosphere of Saturn's largest moon, Titan, also they are considered to exist in the atmosphere of ancient Earth, that would have very low abundance of oxygen. Since the aerosols can affect the atmospheric structure in various ways through the absorption and scattering of light, the study of aerosols is important to understand the evolution of surface environment of primordial Earth and planets.
I irradiate UV light to simulate planetary atmospheres, measuring the production rates and optical properties of organic aerosls generated.
Our laboratory is going to be closed for two weeks due to a refit of air conditionar, I have to complete the experiments before early September!
