LIBS-QMS experiment

LIBSを次世代の火星探査機に搭載することを目的とした、LIBS-QMS実験の準備が当研究室の実験室で行われました。この実験によって将来的には、惑星に着陸した探査機がその場で岩石の年代測定を行うことが可能になると期待されています。実験には三浦弥生さん（東大、地震研）、三河内岳さん（東大、地球惑星科学）も参加されました。今日は実験装置類の組み立て、動作確認を行いました。

The arrangement of the LIBS-QMS experiment, with the aim of loading LIBS to a Mars lander in future generation, was carried out in our laboratory on 11th June. Thanks to this experiment, it is expected that a space probe landing a planet will be able to date rocks' age at that point without sample return mission. Dr.Yayoi Miura(Univ. Tokyo/Earthquake Research Institute) and Dr.Takashi Mikouchi(Univ. Tokyo/Earth and Planetary Science) came to join this experiment. We build the equipment and checked its movement today.
